I suffer from PTSD,anxiety, depression, seasonal depression and i am bi polar. I have had one hell of a Rollercoaster ride over the years. I have been in the dark tunnel with no light to be seen. After 7 years of hard work, the doctors are considering slowly taking me off of my meds. Any recommendations?

Happy Passover/Pesach to all Jewish persons around the world and fellow believers!

Passover is a 7-8 day festivity with family and friends where the Hebrew people's liberation from slavery from Egypt is remembered in reading the Book of Exodus, and other text's, during the week, and in commemorating over shared meals and celebrations.

Pesach starts on the 24th in the evening until the 30th... of April at sundown.

Here's to learning more about other faiths and their development and changes over the decades. Here's to a prosperous Spiritual Health and Wellness, individually, and within our respective communities! more

Access to Mental Health Services is not always...ideal.

I won't lie. There are various barriers to check through, and depending on your intersectional identity, these barriers may become walls or mountains to trek through. Waymakers are always welcome for marginalized groups and identities as systems continue to mature towards the ideal!

Some of the barriers to mental health services... include:
-Cost
-Insurance accepted
-Language barriers (spoken, signed, etc.)
-Physical barriers (wheelchair access, large and small bodied persons, a comfortable space for the neurodiverse, etc.)
-Therapist (specializations, cultural competence, licensure, etc.)
-Distance and limited options in the area
-Limited modes available (in-person, telehealth, both, home-based, in community agencies like hospitals, etc.)
-Stigma
-Logistics (not having a car, being a minor and needing caregiver's consent, not having fare, etc.)
-Therapeutic trauma (with past service provider(s))
-and, sadly, more.

Nonetheless, continue to learn about your wants, needs, areas of growth, and the skills to start learning for practice, so you can self-advocate in the mental health space for accessibility and access to the therapy you deserve.

As the newer Board of Counselors and Psychologists establishes itself in Kenya, I look forward to seeing the certification and official licensing of different specialties of therapists and psychologists.

Did you know that there are areas of specialties? Some therapists in the US are licensed Marriage and Family Therapists, others are Play Therapy or Theraplay therapists, and yet, there are even... Sex Therapists! I look forward to being a fully licensed Mental Health Counselor/Therapist over the next couple of years.
