Contribute to programme monitoring by supporting data collection, entry, analysis, and document management, ensuring timely and accurate reporting of progress and results.
Provide logistical and coordination support for meetings, trainings, consultations, and outreach activities with government institutions, civil society, youth networks, and development partners.
Support the documentation of lessons learned, success stories, and best practices from programme engagements to inform adaptive programming, advocacy, and knowledge sharing.
Assist in leveraging both digital platforms and in-person approaches to engage diverse youth constituencies, ensuring active participation of marginalized and underrepresented groups.
Experience in using tools/software’s to maintain and update stakeholder databases, contact lists, and partner engagement trackers to support effective collaboration and follow-up.
Attend project technical meetings, take comprehensive meeting notes with a focus on action points and share with the line manager for review and onward circulation.
Stakeholder Engagement and Logistics
Support the planning, coordination, and organization of meetings, trainings, workshops, and consultations with internal teams, government institutions, civil society, youth networks, and other external partners.
Assist in preparing agendas, concept notes, briefing materials, and presentations for stakeholder engagements to ensure strategic alignment with UNDP’s governance and youth participation objectives.
Participate in internal discussions and external partner meetings to capture key points, prepare meeting summaries, and follow up on agreed action items.
Contribute to outreach efforts by mapping and maintaining an updated database of stakeholders, including youth-led organizations, civic tech actors, and development partners working on governance and electoral processes.
Provide logistical and administrative support for events, including venue arrangements, travel coordination, documentation, and dissemination of meeting outcomes.


Other Duties

The Rome Centre for Climate Action and Energy Transition is seeking an Energy Finance Specialist to advance UNDP's mission in Kenya through the "Energy for Growth in Africa" programme. The implementing the partnership’s initiatives, working closely with the UNDP Country Office in Kenya to ensure effective coordination.
The primary focus of this role will be to identify and... support national and country-specific activities that can accelerate the clean energy transition, driving progress toward UNDP's energy objectives in the region. The Energy Finance Specialist will provide strategic insights and technical expertise to ensure alignment with both national needs and global energy goals, ultimately contributing to a more sustainable and resilient energy future for Kenya.
Energy Finance Specialist will be instrumental in executing the initiatives of the partnership and will collaborate closely with the UNDP Kenya Office to ensure efficient coordination with the supervision of UNDP Rome Center Energy for Growth in Africa Team. The Energy Finance Specialist will support UNDP Kenya in expediting the energy transition in Kenya, in accordance with UNDP's energy goals in the region. Duties and Responsibilities


The Renewable Energy Specialist will act as the focal point for the UNDP Rome Center's ‘’Energy for Growth initiative in Africa’’, providing essential advice and technical expertise, advocating for change, building relationships, and sharing knowledge in the areas of clean energy transition This role involves identifying regional and country-specific initiatives that can facilitate energy transition and support both regional and national climate objectives, aligning with the goals and scope of Energy for Growth in Africa. S/he will enhance the capabilities of the UNDP Kenya Office in the clean energy and climate sectors by offering specialized expertise and technical skills, particularly in these key areas:


Project Identification and Origination:


Identify clean energy projects that lack sufficient capital for development; 
Develop and maintain a pipeline of clean energy projects in collaboration with UNDP Country Office;
Coordinate with stakeholders to align project identification with national priorities and the objectives of the Energy for Growth initiative;  
Develop a country engagement strategy for Kenya, analyze current economic trends, identify emerging opportunities, and align efforts to promote Energy for Growth initiative in Kenya. 


Build Strategic stakeholder Engagement and Coordination:


Engage with energy sector stakeholders—including government agencies, private investors, and development institutions, particularly G7 development partners, to foster collaboration and ensure alignment with G7 priorities;
Lead and support the development of partnerships with relevant UN Agencies, government institutions, bi-lateral and multi-lateral donors, private sector and civil society organizations to pursue institutional and policy development for effective implementation of the Energy for Growth initiative;
Develop and execute a comprehensive engagement strategy for Kenyan ensuring that stakeholder engagement align with the objectives of the Energy for Growth in Africa initiative;
Support the organization of stakeholder meetings and related events and prepare technical advisory work, policy, and communication materials including advice to the country office’s related approaches and initiatives in the area of energy access and transition;
Map and engage key stakeholders, including government agencies, Development partners, NGOs, private investors, and energy service providers.


  Lead Project Risk Mitigation and Enhancement:


Provide technical expertise to assess the risks associated with the identified energy projects, particularly in terms of financing and bankability;
Advice and implement de-risking mechanisms, including technical assistance, catalytic funds for blended finance structures, and insurance for political and off-taker risks;
Collaborate with financial institutions and other partners to ensure project risks are addressed effectively to enhance the attractiveness of projects for investment.


Lead knowledge and capacity building, knowledge sharing and technical Assistance: 


Provide technical expertise and strategic guidance to clean energy projects at the development stage, including feasibility assessments, power purchase agreements, and environmental and social impact assessments;
Lead and support the UNDP Country Office in building capacity related to clean energy project preparation and implementation;
Lead and support country programming that links and strengthens existing efforts on long-term energy planning (e.g., as stated in Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs), as well as flagship initiatives.


Reporting and Monitoring:


Prepare a quarterly report on project progress, including updates on project identification, risk mitigation activities, stakeholder engagement, and investment facilitation;
Prepare regular report on the status of engagement with G7 and other development partners covering key developments, collaborative initiatives, challenges encountered, and recommendations for strengthening partnerships;
Develop monitoring tools to track the implementation of supported projects in achieving energy access and economic development objectives;
Provide feedback and lessons learned to enhance the impact of the Energy for Growth in Africa initiative.

Duties and Responsibilities


The Project Coordinator will be responsible for providing managerial leadership to the project, managing and supporting the day-to-day activities and resources of the project, with special emphasis on coordination and networking, management, and mobilization of resources.

Ensure effective management of the project by maintaining the delivery of appropriate technical, operational, financial and administrative outputs, while tracking the project’s progress through monitoring, evaluation and reporting


Managing and coordinating the implementation of the respective activities based on the relevant project documents, including, as needed, consultants and experts to achieve project results;

Duties And Responsibilities

The Quantity Surveyor shall be responsible for the following detailed tasks and activities towards achieving key functions.


Actively support the assessment activities for infrastructure construction/rehabilitation activities in the targeted sites in BAY States:
Conduct site visits to assess the need for civil works intervention in the JAP locations;
Prepare an analysis of the civil works intervention and cost estimate.
Actively support the preparation of technical documents for the civil works projects and prepare detailed BOQs, specifications and internal cost estimates:
Review and verify the designs of infrastructure facilities, such as police facilities, school buildings, toilet and WASH facilities, boreholes, housing units and others;
Review and certify the government standard specifications, which are submitted by the respective authorities for civil works in BAY States. Recommend the necessary adjustments, if any;
Prepare detailed BOQs, specifications and cost estimate of infrastructure facilities.
Provide technical and civil engineering support for smooth procurement:
Work with the project team to produce project technical documents for the procurement unit for processing;
Work closely with the procurement unit and support in advertising the civil works procurement cases, pre-bid meetings and bidders' clarifications;
Support technical evaluation process. prepare bids arithmetic check and Financial Analysis (FA) reports;
Provide advice on any procurement-related issues;
Support the project teams in the NE Sub-Office in verifying the Variation Orders (VO) (if required);
Assist UNDP as an expert witness in litigation arising from the development or construction of the project and in bearings before various approving and regulatory agencies.
Ensures the Management of civil works projects:
Conduct construction inspection including inspection of materials, samples, and equipment to be installed are meeting the UNDP Contract specifications and standards;
Ensure that the Contractors maintain safety on the site and clean the site after the completion of the rehabilitation work;
Support monitoring progress of infrastructure construction/rehabilitation activities particularly from an engineering point of view and promptly report any abnormality or risks to the respective UNDP project managers and project teams;
Discuss site issues with the Contractor for construction/renovation of civil works projects and promptly report back to UNDP if a problem arises that requires UNDP input;
Verify payments submitted by the contracts and prepare valuation of work implemented;

Under the overall supervision of the OCHA ROSEA Head of Office, and as part of the Access/CMCoord and Analysis Unit (ACA), the Humanitarian Affairs Officer/PSEA reports to the Head of ACA and works in close conjunction and liaison with all units within OCHA ROSEA, especially the ACA and EPR Unit, including when providing surge and support to countries across the region with a specific focus on... PSEA. The Humanitarian Affairs Officer/PSEA is expected regularly deploy to support humanitarian preparedness and response – with respect to PSEA – across the region (and beyond as required). He/She will work to support and strengthen coordination of the collective PSEA activities for the East and Southern Africa region. The PSEA Coordinator will work closely with the IASC Secretariat PSEAH team, and PSEA taskforce co-chairs.
The candidate will be based in Nairobi, Kenya. This position will require regular surge deployments within and potentially outside the region. Candidates are expected to be available and willing to surge for up to three months at a time.

Duties And Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the Head of Access/CMCoord and Analysis Unit, the National Humanitarian Affairs Officer/PSEA will be responsible for the following duties:

Country Surge and Support

Provide frontline surge in response to new emergencies, the escalation of existing emergencies and/or to fill critical gaps, particularly to facilitate/lead coordination arrangements related to PSEA.
Support coordinated humanitarian operational preparedness for, and response to, emergencies in Southern and Eastern Africa, including through frontline surge, and support (remote and in-person), with a focus on PSEA, including in relevant processes and products such as operational coordination, inter-cluster coordination, contingency plans, the Humanitarian Programme Cycle, flash updates, humanitarian financing (e.g. CERF) etc. with the aim to mainstream PSEA in humanitarian preparedness and response;
Monitor analyze and report on PSEA developments and arrangements in assigned areas of Southern and Eastern Africa ;
Follow developments in countries assigned by the supervisor, keep country profiles up-to-date; and engage with the Resident Coordinator’s Office coordination specialist for assigned countries, and highlight any issues of concern to feed into the daily operational update and flag for the attention of OCHA’s senior leadership; Support OCHA ROSEA to partner with other humanitarian agencies to plan and evaluate PSEA programmes in countries in Southern and Eastern Africa, and help ensure that latest findings, lessons learned and policy guidelines, etc. are incorporated into these activities, including gender-related considerations.
Support engagement with relevant authorities and humanitarian partners to triangulate humanitarian information and effectively identify and map PSEA needs and response activities in assigned areas of Southern and Eastern Africa;
Manages the production of appeals for international assistance; ensures the proper use and spending of donor contributions channeled through OCHA.including incorporating PSEA activities and considerations;
Support as appropriate the preparation of relevant Central Emergency Response Fund (CERF) applications and reports in countries under ROSEA’s coverage without OCHA country offices, including providing advice and guidance on including PSEA arrangements and programs.
Prepare briefing materials and presentations providing up-to-date analysis on trends and developments on PSEA situation in the region;
As appropriate, support, organize and/or participate in coordinated assessment missions to build consensus on humanitarian needs and priorities in assigned areas, including in relation to PSEA needs and activities.

Coordination

Under the guidance of the head of the ACA section, provide assistance and support to OCHA Country Offices, OCHA Humanitarian Advisory Teams (HATs) on PSEA and related policy issues, upon request;
Under the guidance of the head of the ACA section, support OCHA Country Offices, OCHA Humanitarian Advisory Teams (HATs) to identify operational challenges and gaps in PSEA;
Support the Regional PSEA Task Team co-chairs in the implementation of the Regional PSEA Task team-work plan;

Recruitment Qualifications

Education

Master’s Degree preferably in Political or Social Science, Law, International studies or other relevant science with 5 years of relevant and qualifying experience is required; a Bachelor’s degree in combination with 7 additional years of relevant and qualifying experience in the field of humanitarian affairs may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree. Provide administrative support to ensure the smooth and efficient functioning of the DRR front office.
