Under the overall supervision of the Programme Lead on Finance and Economy, the consultant will be responsible for the following duties:


Course Planning and Structure Development
Design the overall framework and learning objectives of the Finance Strategy Course in alignment with organizational or academic goals.
Conduct research on current trends in... corporate finance, strategic financial management, and financial decision-making to ensure course relevance and rigor.
Define course outcomes, target audience, key competencies, and assessment criteria.
Develop a logical structure that integrates theoretical foundations with practical applications.
Content Creation (6 Chapters) Draft Chapters 1–3:
Develop foundational concepts such as corporate finance principles, capital structure strategy, and value creation models. • Write detailed chapter content including key theories, case examples, and real-world applications.
Ensure clarity, accuracy, and consistency with academic and professional standards. Draft Chapters 4–6: • Create advanced-level content on topics like risk management, financial forecasting, investment strategy, and strategic budgeting.
Incorporate analytical tools, decision frameworks, and strategic planning models used in finance leadership.
Integrate data-driven insights and industry examples to enhance practical relevance.
Development of Interactive Learning Activities
Design engaging and interactive exercises to enhance learner participation and understanding.
Develop simulations, case analyses and financial modeling assignments aligned with each chapter.


Qualifications/special skills


Academic Qualifications;
A bachelor's degree in development studies, Urban Planning, Economics, Public Policy, Public Finance, Political Science, or a related field is required.
Working Experience;
At least 2 years of relevant work experience in the field of local economic development, urban planning, public finance, and or public policy is required.

The Technical Urban Development Expert/Coordinator will provide technical support to the SDG Localization and Local Governance Section. The expert will contribute to the development of methodologies, tools, and knowledge products; deliver capacity-building, and offer technical support across all projects of the Section, ensuring technical quality and alignment... with UN-Habitat’s strategic objectives and ongoing activities.
Specifically, the expert will be responsible for the following tasks: Tools Development, Support, and Upkeep Design and adapt innovative diagnostic and planning tools to support cities and local governments in SDG localization. Provide technical support, evaluation, and troubleshooting for existing tools and platforms.
Coordinate with internal teams and external partners for tool maintenance, contracts, and integration into digital platforms and websites. Project and Partnership Support Provide technical inputs to project design, workplans, and proposals to ensure feasibility and alignment with UN-Habitat’s strategic approach and in consultation with UN-Habitat’s Regional and Country Offices. Coordination and Internal Collaboration Foster synergies with other UN-Habitat teams, initiatives, and global partners to ensure coherence and maximize impact. Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the Programme Management Officer, the intern will be responsible for the following tasks:


Support the review and quality assurance of housing practices submitted to UN-Habitat, including follow-up with country and regional offices and partners as needed.
Assist in compiling and organizing existing internal material on housing practices into a... searchable and user-friendly format.
Conduct desk research on national housing policies and frameworks, including identification of trends, innovations, and gaps.
Assist with the preparation of presentations and communication materials, including for internal briefings or external events.

RESPONSIBILITIES


The consultant will support UNITAC work and the Data and Analytics Unit, under the direct supervision of the head of DAU and UNITAC. She/he will be responsible for the following tasks:
Contribute to programme and project development through performance and financial management and monitoring as well as evaluation of internal and external processes towards the advancement... of the Unit’s and project goals and objectives.
Prepare interim and final financial reports for UNITAC and DAU grants.

Responsibilities


Assist the Executive Director in the overall direction and management of the Department, translating strategic intent and high-level organizational direction into viable tasks; work with Divisions and the Executive Office to support effective implementation and resourcing.
In collaboration with relevant offices, lead the identification of emerging human settlement policy... issues. Undertake research and provide briefings to the Executive Director and the Leadership Team.
Assist the Executive Director and Leadership team with expert advice on the substance, design and implementation of forward-leaning strategies and approaches.
Offer strategic policy guidance and contribute to the development of coherent, impact-based programmes. Support the integration and emerging human settlements issues in UN-Habitat's programme of work and across substantive offices.
Draft, finalize and present policy briefs and papers on emerging human settlements issues for consideration by the Executive Director and the Leadership Team.
Prepare policy statements and speeches for the Executive Director in coordination with the relevant divisions and offices.
Ensure strategic alignment of the divisions and field programme of work with UN-Habitat vision and priorities. Coordinate and oversee results-oriented planning, ensuring that inputs and actions are aligned.
Lead and coordinate selected reform processes as directed by the Executive Director, particularly in the areas of programme coordination, results-based management, resource planning, and information and communication. Drive organizational change and identify associated risk mitigation strategies. 


Education


Advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in business administration, public administration, Management, Urban Development, finance, economics, accounting, law, social sciences or related area is required.
A first-level university degree in combination with two (2) additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree. Successful completion of both degree and non-degree programs in data analytics, business analytics or data science programs is desirable.


Work Experience


A minimum of fifteen (15) years of progressively responsible professional experience in complex development operations; five of which should be on leadership roles is required. Experience in urban development and human settlements, including management of programmes, at the international level is required.
Experience managing complex reporting requirements, integrating information from various sources, and presenting to donors or high-level country representatives, combined with the ability to clearly articulate strategic direction, is required.
Experience in an international organization or the UN system both at HQ or Regional and country levels is desirable.
Experience in proven record in partnerships management and ideally substantial mobilization of resources is desirable. Experience in data analytics or related area is desirable.

Responsibilities

Under the direct supervision of the Associate Human Rights and Social Inclusion Officer the intern will:


Support the development of internal human rights, gender and social inclusion capacity-building materials, which may require supporting and organizing meetings and webinars, carrying out background research, drafting surveys and communication materials, and other,... similar such tasks as required.
Support the development of human rights materials such as reports, publications, concept notes etc, including by carrying out background research, attending and supporting relevant meetings and events, as well as any other relevant tasks.
Support the development of gender mainstreaming materials such as reports, publications, concept notes etc, including by carrying out background research, attending relevant meetings and events, summarizing reports and documents, etc.
Support internal reporting, for example by gathering feedback from other teams.
Support the engagement with UN human rights mechanisms, such as the Human Rights Council.
Support relevant internal and external meetings / events with a focus on human rights and gender mainstreaming. This may include providing logistical support, meeting coordination, taking minutes of meetings during meetings, preparing support materials, drafting talking points, liaison with internal / external stakeholders, preparing summary reports, etc.
Support the preparation of human rights and gender events at the World Urban Forum.
Support the Associate Human Rights and Social Inclusion Officer as otherwise required.
Carry out any other tasks requested to support the Human Rights and Social Inclusion Unit (this will include administrative tasks such as taking minutes of meetings).
This internship may be carried out remotely or in-person, based on the availability and needs of the selected intern (if remote internship, time zone differences will be taken into consideration but the intern must be available for a minimum of agreed meetings during EAT work hours to ensure a regular communication flow). Part-time internships are possible.

Project Development The intern will:
Support the delivery of ideation, feasibility analysis, and project preparation support to sustainable urban development infrastructure projects in the CIF Project Pipeline.
Engage with CIF Implementing Partners – global experts delivering project preparation support – to track, monitor and guide the project preparation... process.
Support and facilitate project assessment, due diligence and bankability assessment processes of projects within the CIF Project Pipeline.
Assist in the identification and incorporation of ESG and SDG-oriented analysis and decision support methodologies within the CIF.
Assist the development of a Donor Tracker: a database and analysis of relevant investors, and financiers engaged by UN-Habitat, in support of launching a new Feasibility Fund, creating agendas, presentation materials, taking action notes and providing follow-up engagement, for internal UN-Habitat and external Partner meetings.
Sustainable Finance The intern will: Conduct thematic research on investment structures and risk mitigation instruments.
Prepare early-stage documentation on financial structuring for projects onboarded into the CIF pipeline on how they align with investor requirements and guarantee eligibility.
Liaise with current and potential partners in the areas of commercial and private investment and developing project pipelines.
Support the development of partnership agreements: including memorandums of understanding, budgets, work plans, marketing collateral and other relevant materials for CIF relationships with partners as required.
Contribute to developing and operationalizing CIF's strategy, roadmap and business model.
Assist with developing a database and analysis of relevant donors, investors and financiers who can support the work of UN-Habitat and CIF.
