Share key data and insights from employer interactions with the internal team to inform decision-making and refine plans, initiatives and strategies. Data Collection

Manage end-to-end collection of all program-level data to inform program outcomes and impact.
Support mentors (super-agents) to capture data to inform mentorship outcomes. This includes data on class attendance, wages earned from freelance and non-freelance work and channels of freelance work.
Develop and script questionnaires to collect qualitative and quantitative data from program beneficiaries.
Ensure data collected from program beneficiaries is correctly entered into Salesforce on a regular basis.

Data Quality Monitoring

Outline and implement data validation procedures to ensure data meets the highest quality metrics.

Program Delivery

Provide instruction and demonstrate SMO technical skills following the Generation Program Kenya curriculum, including the behavioural skills, mindsets, and employer specific.

Role Overview:

The Communications Manager role is a contractual full-time managerial role, which will report to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO). This is a critical position for leading Generation Programme Kenya’s (GPK or Generation Kenya) efforts in promoting the organization’s brand, mission, vision and values. H/she will be responsible for creating communications materials (that includes but not limited to marketing and advertising materials) through a variety of means, including press releases, websites, blogs, brochures and among other relevant promotional items. WHAT YOU'LL DO:

Ensuring Generation Kenya presents a consistent brand and engaging content to its targeted audiences, specifically young people aged 18 – 35 years, employers, government, development partners and other identified key partners. You will spotlight and amplify the great work being done by Generation Kenya to support unemployed and underemployed young people. Activities will include media relations, campaign management, social media, content creation (including writing, editing, design) and general marketing initiatives.

General responsibilities

Developing and implementing communication strategies to promote the organization’s mission and vision.
Delivering marketing activities and communications campaigns to engage key stakeholders (including donors, employers, students and government organizations) and monitoring their success.
Conducting research and analyzing data to measure the effectiveness of communication strategies and make recommendations for improvement. ▪ Writing, editing and managing content for a range of communication channels, including newsletters, press releases, website copy, social media posts, and other marketing materials. This will include but not limited to developing and /or revisions of pitch documents (in MS Word, PPT, etc.,) to support fundraising efforts.
Planning and executing events and campaigns to raise awareness of the organization’s work — internally and externally.
Review, update and create awareness on GPK’s brand guidelines. This includes but is not limited to ensuring consistency in communications materials across all functions and programmes within Generation as per GPK’s brand guidelines.
Proactively engage with the global communications team to contribute to global communications efforts.
Responsible for building a stories and content repository (both written and visual) from the different stakeholders (ie, alumni, employers, funders to feed current and future external communications). This repository will need to be well organized and catalogued for easy access and use by colleagues.

External communications

Proactively managing press relations and creating informative, creative and interesting press releases, press kits, newsletters & related marketing material. This could include reaching out to influencers, media and beyond in order to arrange story placement on a national and global level.
Managing and writing of copy and content for a range of media including print and digital
Developing an effective digital marketing strategy.
Managing social media channels for Generation across a range of channels (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and LinkedIn), working with relevant functions like the Learner and Alumni Engagement, BD and Operations in developing and testing content to increase reach.
Represent the organization at events and press conferences
Supporting in external communication via taking queries and giving correct information, through the official Generation Programme Kenya phone line.

Internal communications

Create internal communications protocols and initiatives that will foster employee morale.

Fundraising

Developing and implementing a comprehensive fundraising plan that incorporates diverse multi-year fundraising streams. This would include but not limited to bilateral and multilateral organizations as well as corporate partnerships.
Leading the writing of proposals and key fundraising documentation.
Identifying and cultivating relationships with potential donors and partners whose interest align with Generation Kenya. This includes maintaining ongoing communication and engagement with both current and high-potential funding partners.

Instructional Products for Generation Programs (40%)

Design innovative products, tools and/or resources to support instructor professional development for new and existing programs in collaboration with multiple teams (eg: Product team and the Online team)

Communication Assistant/Intern responsibilities:

Assist in organizing and planning events while collecting feedback to improve the overall function’s strategy.
Mobilize storytelling opportunities (photos, videos, articles at events as needed) and optimize existing content on all media channels.
Support Communications Manager to run GPK social media assets... consistent with Generation brand voice and strategy.
Deliver content assets that are coherent with Generation brand voice and strategy.
Manage digital and social content channels including email or newsletter distribution, with an understanding of the best content practices on each channel.
Test and implement innovative and relevant methods of measuring content, campaigns, and tools, keeping in mind the purpose of the derived results.

Knowledge, Qualifications And Experience

Minimum of Diploma in Journalism, Mass Communications or a media related field – essential.
Minimum of two (2) experience in Marketing, Communications, or in a journalist, creative, or media capacity – preferred.

Participate in the recruitment process for Risk & Compliance officers.
Design & customize onboarding agendas & session plans & facilitate training with incoming Risk & Compliance officers.

Instructor Recruitment & Onboarding

Participate in the instructor selection process.

Training DeliveryInternal

Conduct training needs assessments for instructors by sending out surveys and analysing instructor performance data.
Develop and customize training materials for use in quarterly refresher training.

External

Participate in the training needs assessment for external clients by way of surveys and interviews with relevant stakeholders.
Develop and/or customize training materials per clients’ needs and collaborate with the client’s point person to firm up the training content.

Program Learning & Improvement

Proactively identify & document training/curriculum challenges and flag them with the TQM for revision.
Evaluate the success of training implementation by assessing the achievement of learning objectives to continuously improve training solutions and identify future learning needs.
Monitor struggling instructors and have sessions with instructional coaches to identify how best to support them.

Capacity Building

Support the Finance & Risk Manager to determine how to expand and scale the use of Risk & Compliance to ensure program quality.
Facilitate Instructional Coach training in consultation with the Senior Manager- Curriculum & Instruction.
Provide feedback to Instructional Coach on instructor training & development journey.

Data & Reporting

Ensure timely updating of all Compliance tools.

Stakeholder Communication And Data Management

Manage a portfolio of cohorts, liaising with instructors, instructional coach, RCo’s, mentors, learners, Programme managers, regional leads, guest speakers, and other team members, to ensure we meet our targets for course completion, learning outcomes and job readiness.
Ensure the learner management system (LMS) is up to date and that regular learners feedback surveys are conducted along with ensuring other data points are inputted in a timely fashion utilizing various tools
Use data gathered from our LMS or via surveys for our learners and instructors to identify areas of strength, growth and potential opportunities.
Review each cohort’s data regularly and use this to shape intervention and support plans for learners in each cohort.
