Scope of Work

The Digital Marketing Freelance Super Agent will be expected to deliver the following:


Onboard an agreed-upon number of graduates for a 6-week apprenticeship program where you will mentor and link them with gigs to kick-start their earning journey.
Support graduates in landing new jobs through job linkages, such as shared contracts, subcontracting, or introducing them to... potential clients.
Develop a structured mentorship program that will ensure that graduates: 
Practice the skills learnt to be at par with industry standards,
Work on gigs under your guidance to attain the required standards 
Work independently on allocated gigs  
Learn how & work on finding gigs independently 
Review their portfolios and platform accounts to ensure they align with the graduate skills and market standards
Provide continuous coaching and upskilling to the graduates in line with the industry needs


Transition Month 


Mentor the graduates over a transition period of 1 month to acquire gigs independently and evaluate their work before submission to clients 
Provide the graduates with complementary job linkages over the transition period to help them attain their earning target  
Conduct follow-up and support sessions for graduates who may be struggling to secure their first independent gig. 
 Create a structure for peer mentorship of the upcoming cohorts 


Monitoring and Reporting


Develop a monitoring and reporting framework in collaboration with Generation Kenya to track the progress of graduates during the attachment period.
Provide Biweekly updates on the progress of the graduates on an agreed-upon template
Participate in regular check-ins with the Generation Kenya team
Collaborate with the Generation Kenya team to identify and address training quality issues and emerging challenges.


Deliverables


The Digital Marketing Freelance Super Agent will be required to deliver the following:
A detailed apprenticeship work plan outlining the weekly engagement plans, work delivery support structures, and a transition plan for the learners
Direct Job Linkages and Mentorship to the mentees during the apprenticeship phase. 
Periodic expert-led mentorship sessions for learners.
Bi-weekly progress reports on graduates during the attachment period.
A final post-apprenticeship report.


Duration of Engagement

The engagement will run for a period of six months, renewable upon mutual agreement and performance.

Qualifications and Expertise Required

The ideal Digital Marketing Freelancer Super Agent should:


Be an active digital marketing freelancer for at least 2 consecutive years with earnings over $10,000
Demonstrate consistent success on recognized platforms or direct client engagements 
Possess the ability & availability to mentor and commit to a structured engagement schedule
Be open to providing graduates with paid gigs
Have a good command of communication tools (e.g., Zoom, Google Meet).
Demonstrate a willingness to support graduates in achieving the set metrics.

Track mentorship frequency, session topics, feedback, and mentee progress
Support the administration of surveys and structured feedback tools
Work closely with the M&E team to ensure data integrity and timely reporting


Monitoring, Troubleshooting & Reporting


Serve as a real-time point of contact for mentors and mentees
Identify and address emerging mentorship challenges
Document lessons learned, insights, and feedback to support strategy refinement


Required Qualifications and Experience:


Alumni of Generation Kenya’s SMO program with workplace experience
Excellent Microsoft Excel skills
Proven leadership abilities and the ability to coordinate people and activities
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Passion for mentorship and helping fellow youth succeed
Reliable, organized, and able to work independently with minimal supervision
Comfortable with basic reporting and data collection
Fluent in Kiswahili and English; local language proficiency is a plus
Availability to travel within the coastal region for mentorship activities

Donor Reporting


Ensure compliance with donor financial requirements, reporting obligations, and audits for grant-funded projects to uphold financial integrity and accountability.
Collaborate with relevant stakeholders, including Generation Global, to create customized reporting templates in the finance system that meet donor-specific needs while adhering to organizational standards.
Prepare accurate and timely donor financial reports as per specific requirements outlined by GPK’s donors.
Conduct training sessions with the finance team to ensure an understanding of donor financial requirements and the customization process for reporting templates.


Internal Reporting


Implement regular financial reporting schedules to provide the Senior Management Team (SMT) with up-to-date financial summaries, including budget vs. actuals, cash flow, and key financial metrics.
Develop standardized financial report formats for consistency and ease of interpretation, enabling SMT to track trends and variances effectively.
Incorporate forward-looking financial projections into reports to provide insights into future financial scenarios, potential challenges, and funding needs.


Month-end close (MEC) procedures


Create a standardized and adhere to a month-end closing checklist outlining all required tasks (e.g., account reconciliations, accruals, and expense verification).
Utilize real-time data tracking and analytics to monitor account balances, expense entries, and other financial metrics throughout the month for a reduced workload at month-end.


Audit and Statutory Compliance


Ensure proper administration of payroll and all statutory obligations
Oversee annual statutory audits
Prepare checks and balances to ensure statutory compliance across the organization
Work with accounts to prepare data for internal and external audits

Person Specification

Knowledge, Qualifications, and Experience


Bachelor’s degree in either Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Strategy, or any other business-related field from a recognized institution.
Minimum 10 years experience in finance
Must be a qualified accountant with relevant professional qualifications such as Certified Public Accountant (CPA-K) or ACCA with a valid certificate.
Professional risk manager (PRM/PMI) certification is an added advantage

Data Collection

Manage end-to-end collection of all program-level data to inform program outcomes and impact.
Support mentors (super-agents) to capture data to inform mentorship outcomes. This includes data on class attendance, wages earned from freelance and non-freelance work and channels of freelance work.
Develop and script questionnaires to collect qualitative and quantitative data from program beneficiaries.
Ensure data collected from program beneficiaries is correctly entered into Salesforce on a regular basis.

Data Quality Monitoring

Outline and implement data validation procedures to ensure data meets the highest quality metrics.
Run high frequency quality checks on data and flagging any inconsistencies observed.

Data Analysis and reporting

Providing all data and analytic support including data cleaning, data management and analysis, resolving data issues and answering any questions.
Support all program reporting needs, including developing narrative reports for non-technical audiences, creating dashboards and presentations.

Distribution of mobilization materials to faith based, and youth serving organizations in the communities.
Represent Generation during events/activities held around the training location/region working with the Generation Kenya Communications office.
Identify and engage stakeholders who would be keen on supporting Generation’s operations at the centers such as community organizations, youth leaders, sponsorship organizations etc.
Represent Generation on local media when opportunities are availed, working very closely with the Generation Kenya Communications office.


Screening candidates and preparing them to attend the training.
Serve as the primary point of contact between Generation participants, program coordinators, and other stakeholders.
Any other administrative duties required to ensure successful operations of the program.

Program Delivery

Provide instruction and demonstrate SMO technical skills following the Generation Program Kenya curriculum, including the behavioural skills, mindsets, and employer specific.
Instruct and demonstrate basic machine maintenance.
Ensure safe and appropriate use of equipment.
Always maintain professionalism in accordance with Generation’s guidelines.

Program Management

Support in mobilization for new participants.
Participate in screening of quality candidates who will take part in the training.
Understand individual student learning needs (and Individualized Education Plans, when applicable) to accommodate various types of learning styles based on Generation methodology.
Provide feedback to students on weekly assessments — including efficiency and quality.

Ongoing Development

This is a critical position for leading Generation Programme Kenya’s (GPK or Generation Kenya) efforts in promoting the organization’s brand, mission, vision and values. H/she will be responsible for creating communications materials (that includes but not limited to marketing and advertising materials) through a variety of means, including press releases, websites, blogs, brochures and among other relevant promotional items. H/she will also produce materials to be used at relevant conferences such as PowerPoint presentations, hand out fliers and brochures. H/she could also be called upon to present at key events to help promote GPK’s brand awareness.
As a key member of the organization’s management team, the position holder will be involved in working alongside other members of the management team to support the achievement of organizational strategic goals and contribute to the scale up of team efforts and results, including the successful launch of new programs, locations (i.e., counties) and relevant strategic partnerships (e.g., with government, learners, alumni and employers).
The Communications Manager will also be instrumental in creating materials that would be used to attract funding from targeted donors. The job description below outlines a broad scope of responsibilities. These may be subject to change based internal and external factors that may impact GPK’s work.

Knowledge, Qualifications And Experience

Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, public relations, journalism or related field.
A minimum of five (5) years’ relevant — hands-on — professional experience in a communications role.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

Ensuring Generation Kenya presents a consistent brand and engaging content to its targeted audiences, specifically young people aged 18 – 35 years, employers, government, development partners and other identified key partners. You will spotlight and amplify the great work being done by Generation Kenya to support unemployed and underemployed young people. Activities will include media relations, campaign management, social media, content creation (including writing, editing, design) and general marketing initiatives.

General responsibilities

Developing and implementing communication strategies to promote the organization’s mission and vision.
Delivering marketing activities and communications campaigns to engage key stakeholders (including donors, employers, students and government organizations) and monitoring their success.
Conducting research and analyzing data to measure the effectiveness of communication strategies and make recommendations for improvement. ▪ Writing, editing and managing content for a range of communication channels, including newsletters, press releases, website copy, social media posts, and other marketing materials. This will include but not limited to developing and /or revisions of pitch documents (in MS Word, PPT, etc.,) to support fundraising efforts.
Planning and executing events and campaigns to raise awareness of the organization’s work — internally and externally.
Review, update and create awareness on GPK’s brand guidelines. This includes but is not limited to ensuring consistency in communications materials across all functions and programmes within Generation as per GPK’s brand guidelines.
Proactively engage with the global communications team to contribute to global communications efforts.
Responsible for building a stories and content repository (both written and visual) from the different stakeholders (ie, alumni, employers, funders to feed current and future external communications). This repository will need to be well organized and catalogued for easy access and use by colleagues.

External communications

Proactively managing press relations and creating informative, creative and interesting press releases, press kits, newsletters & related marketing material. This could include reaching out to influencers, media and beyond in order to arrange story placement on a national and global level.
Managing and writing of copy and content for a range of media including print and digital
Developing an effective digital marketing strategy.
Managing social media channels for Generation across a range of channels (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and LinkedIn), working with relevant functions like the Learner and Alumni Engagement, BD and Operations in developing and testing content to increase reach.
Represent the organization at events and press conferences
Supporting in external communication via taking queries and giving correct information, through the official Generation Programme Kenya phone line.

Internal communications

Create internal communications protocols and initiatives that will foster employee morale.
Plan, design and disseminate relevant communications trainings for staff. This includes but not limited to media training for staff who will participate in media events, etc.
Managing the bulk messaging function in ensuring accurate and consistent messaging, where needed.
Any other responsibilities as may be assigned from time to time.

Key Working Relationships

Media Relationships — collaborate with while maintaining strategic media partnerships and advocate for Education-to-Employment promoting support for Generation Kenya’s work.
Kenya & Global Partnership Team — support and advice the CEO on global and local Communication strategy development and implementation.
Generation Kenya Program Team — in liaison with the CEO, regularly engage, advice and support internal teams in Generation Programme Kenya as the communications advisor, on best practice in communications to ensure delivery of high quality and timely information dissemination and management.

Job purpose:

The primary role of this position is to lead Generation Kenya’s efforts to generate revenue and secure funding from donors, foundations, corporations, and government entities in order to maximize the organization’s impact including developing and sustaining high-level funder and government relationships. He/she will be responsible for developing and implementing fundraising... strategies and initiatives that align with the organization’s mission, vision, and values. A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Marketing, Business Administration, social sciences, Non-profit Management, or Communications is preferred. A master’s degree in a relevant field would be an advantage.
A minimum of 10 years’ experience in fundraising and stakeholder management.
A strong understanding of partnerships, funding and grant compliance and requirements of various public and private donors (corporate donors, private foundations, foreign governments, multilateral and international non-governmental organizations).
At least five years of fundraising experience in a non-profit organization or a similar environment is usually required.
This experience should include managing major grants, creating and implementing successful fundraising strategies and writing successful grant proposals.
In-depth knowledge of various fundraising strategies and techniques, such as major grant fundraising and grant writing.
Have a deep understanding of partnerships and collaborations with organizations, individuals, and corporations.
This includes identifying potential partners, developing partnerships, and building and maintaining relationships.
Communication skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills as well as strong writing skills.
Excellent leadership skills, including the ability to motivate and manage a team, as well as to work collaboratively with other departments within the organization.
Strong analytical skills to assess the effectiveness of fundraising strategies, analyzing donor data, and making informed decisions about fundraising initiatives.
Proficiency in using fundraising and donor management software, social media platforms, and other online tools.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

Fundraising

Developing and implementing a comprehensive fundraising plan that incorporates diverse multi-year fundraising streams. This would include but not limited to bilateral and multilateral organizations as well as corporate partnerships.
Leading the writing of proposals and key fundraising documentation.
Identifying and cultivating relationships with potential donors and partners whose interest align with Generation Kenya. This includes maintaining ongoing communication and engagement with both current and high-potential funding partners.
Leading and supervising the partnerships team by providing guidance, support, and mentorship to help them achieve Generation Kenya’s fundraising targets.
Collaborating with other local and global Generation colleagues such as marketing, communications, partnerships, business development & innovation, finance and risk to ensure that fundraising efforts are aligned with organizational goals and messaging.
Monitoring and analyzing fundraising data and performance metrics and using this information to make informed decisions about fundraising strategies and tactics.
Developing and managing budgets for fundraising activities and ensuring that resources are allocated effectively to maximize return on investment.
Stakeholder Management
Identify stakeholders who are critical to Generation Kenya’s mission and goals. These include, but are not limited to, youth beneficiaries, government agencies, and other NGOs.
Develop a stakeholder engagement strategy to engage with these stakeholders. This could include regular meetings, communication strategies, and other forms of engagement.
Build relationships with stakeholders, which involves gaining their trust and confidence. This could involve building connections with key individuals, demonstrating your commitment to the organization’s mission, and providing regular updates on the organization’s activities.
Monitor stakeholder sentiment to understand how they feel about the organization and its activities. This could involve gathering feedback through surveys, focus groups, or other methods, and using this information to make improvements or changes to the organization’s strategy.

Grant Management

Oversee the design and execution of an institutional grant management system to manage and support the donor requirements.
Oversee the reporting to ensure quality reports are submitted to funders and other key stakeholders in a timely manner.
In liaison with the FM, analyse budget trends and make recommendations for cost control and reduction for various grants.
Continuous Improvement and Team Management
Problem-solving key fundraising and partnership management with relevant functions to ensure successful achievement of organizational goals.
