JOB PURPOSE

Providing high standard of nursing care to critically ill patients in line with the hospital’s policies and procedures and accountable for a shift in the section.

 MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


Carry out specific tests, analyze, interpret, troubleshoot, and initiate immediate intervention.
Engage with doctors and other care providers on a daily basis regarding patients’ Plan of Care and Care solutions with emphasis on a team- based problem-solving approach to provide unified approach to patient care.
Administering treatment plans to patients as prescribed.
Relay accurate information to clinical staff on a patient’s condition.
Responding to and reporting any abnormal recordings to the person in charge.
Labeling and dispatching specimens to the laboratory promptly and safely.
Ensure routine duties are done to prepare and clear the ward before admission and after discharge.
Provide health education to patients and follow up care.
Address patients’ complaints and emergencies as they arise.
Carry out patients’ proper orientation within the section.
 Overall supervision of section activities in an assigned shift.
Mentor junior nurses in the hospital and students attached in the department.
Any other duty assigned by the supervisor in line with the job description.


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS/ QUALIFICATIONS


Higher Diploma in Critical Care Nursing (KRCCN).
Diploma in Kenya Registered Community Health Nursing. A degree in Nursing will be an added advantage.
Minimum of one (1) year of work experience in a critical care unit post-KRCCN training and licensure and 2 years as a general nurse.
Valid BLS/ACLS certification.
