RESPONSIBILITY / MAIN ACTIVITIES
The clinical research nurse will work a shift-based system in the Infection Control and Research Center, in both the suspect and confirmed Lassa fever wards. The clinical research nurse will report to the study coordinator.
The clinical research nurse will:

Help to identify eligible patients and recruit patients into the study, and provide patients (or their representatives) with the opportunity to discuss the research study
Obtain written informed consent from patients (or their representatives)
Provide written and verbal information and support for patients (or their representatives) involved in the study
Coordinate treatment, assessment and follow-up as necessary in accordance with the study protocol and the study schedule
Maintain accurate patient study documentation, including the completion of Case Report Forms and use of electronic data capture systems
Perform study related tasks, including performing finger pricks for collection of dried blood spots, performing cardiovascular measurements using study specific equipment, and other tests if needed

 
Implementation of prevention measures against abuse of power, gender-based and sexual violence:

Ensures that his/her team, partners and community members are aware of ALIMA's policy and have access to information (complaint escalation mechanism, focal point...).
Facilitates the organization of training and awareness sessions
Implements standards related to the prevention of abuse of power, gender-based violence and sexual violence.
Ensures that team members and partners involved in the project (Ministry of Health, national partners, etc.) follow training and awareness sessions and apply the rules for preventing abuse.
Contributes to creating and maintaining a nurturing and protective environment for his/her team, community members and project partners.

REQUIREMENTS
Education:

Registered nurse.
Additional training in clinical research is desirable

Experience:
2-year experience in data analysis & management
Language:
Excellent command of verbal and written English is essential. Notion of the local language (Yoruba; Hausa (if possible) is an asset.
Technical skills:

Team management and good mastery of teamwork
Adherence to the ALIMA Principles and Charter
Experience in clinical research, including data collection, is essential
Experience in a hospital medical service (nurse skills)
Knowledge of at least one data entry software
Experience in an infectious diseases department would be appreciated
Knowledge of at least one Office Pack software is desirable
Conversant with printing, scanning, archiving
Fluent English is essential. Yoruba language skills are desirable
