The overall objective of the UNEP's Ecosystems Division is to support countries in conserving, restoring and sustainably managing their terrestrial, freshwater and marine ecosystems, the biodiversity they contain and the products and services they provide for human well-being and prosperity. Focusing on tackling climate change, biodiversity loss, and pollution, across marine, coastal and aquatic ecosystems, the Marine and Freshwater Branch helps countries develop policies and programmes to respond to these challenges, while integrating linkages between poverty and the environment in development planning.
