JOB PURPOSE
A Senior Credit Officer will be responsible for the entire credit granting process. This includes the consistent application of a credit policy, periodic credit reviews of existing customers, and assessing the credit worthiness of potential customers. The Senior Credit Officer goal is to optimize the mix of company sales and bad debt losses and support in enhancing cashflow and networking capital.
KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Develop a credit management policy for the review and approval of the senior management team.
Review, analyse and approve credit applications from customers as per the company policy.
Revise credit terms with customers based on their performance.
Prepare and dispatch accurate and timely monthly debtor statements of accounts and reconcile debtor’s accounts as and when necessary.
Prepare bad debt projection reports and draw these to the attention of the management team and suggest changes to minimise sales to bad accounts.
Set up meetings with key customers and bad accounts and attend these along with the appropriate members of the management team.
Properly motivate the credit and collections staff if need be.
Provide for ongoing training of the junior credit staff.
Manage relations with collection agencies, credit reporting agencies, insurance providers, sales department and manage legal cases in accordance with legal team.

QUALIFICATIONS & COMPETENCIES

Bachelor's degree in business or finance / accounting and experience with credit scoring systems preferred specialized credit management training.
Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in credit management role.
