Responsibilities

Controls steam-driven turbo generators in electric power generating station: Starts or signals auxiliary-equipment operator to start turbines and boiler auxiliary units.
Monitors panel board to control operations of turbines to detect equipment malfunctions.
Stops turbines when malfunctions occur, following operating instructions.
Records instrument readings at specified intervals.
May perform minor maintenance or equipment, using hand tools.
When controlling operation by remote control, may be designated Central-Control-Room Operator.
Know how to start and stop boilers and the turbine/generators in a safe and efficient manner and bring them on and off line either manually / automatic as per plant design with respect to require safety.
Maintain the determined electrical production output
Monitor, test and maintain proper power plant chemistry
Follow Company Policies and Procedures
Control power generating equipment, including boilers, turbines, generators, or reactors, using control boards or semi-automatic equipment.

Qualifications

Diploma/Degree in mechanical engineering, plant option.
2-3 years experience in turbine operation and maintenance.
Good communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work under pressure to meet assigned targets.
Ability to work under minimum supervision
Problem solving and analytical skills
Attention to detail
Hands on experience in turbine operation and maintenance.
Ability to perform PM, CM and emergency maintenance of the turbines.
Experience in power generation setting preferred.
Hands on knowledge of gearbox operations and maintenance.
