Job Purpose
The overall purpose of this job is to carry out imaging and screening procedures and produce images for diagnostics and treatment purposes in line with established protocols and the Hospital’s patient care objectives.
Key duties and responsibilities

Schedule and prepare patients for operation and procedures;
Identify risks and ensure quality control checks are in place to ensure safety of patients;
Act as a customer care champion and handle complaints from the clients;
Check and ensure that imaging equipment in in good working condition and report any faults or malfunction; 
Ensure proper hand over and reporting at the end of day/shift in lie with requirements; 
Receive the client and ensure that the payment is processed before examination;
Lead the patient to the changing area and providing hospital gowns to them;
Re-assure the patient and position him/her on the examination table ready for the procedure;
Promote and maintain clean, comfortable and safe environment for the patients, staff and visitors;
Build positive working relationships with patients and their relatives;
Ensure safety and quality in patient services and maintain confidentiality of patient’s medical record;
Perform basic administrative duties including printing, copying and filling patient records;
Assess  patients  and  their  clinical  requirements  to  work  out  which  radiographic techniques to use;
Perform a range of radiographic examinations on patients to produce high-quality images.
Take responsibility for radiation safety in the work area, including checking equipment for malfunctions and errors;
Manage referrals to ensure patients receive a radiation dose as low as reasonably possible.
Help  in  more  complex  radiological  examinations,  working  with  doctors  such  as radiologists and surgeons;
Provide support and reassurance to patients, taking into account their physical and psychological needs;
Keep  up  to  date  with  health  and  safety  guidelines,  including  ionising  radiation regulations, to protect myself and others;
Care and maintain imaging equipment’s to ensure they are functional to produce high quality images;
Perform all aspects of radiology including special procedures;
Operate PACS and RIS for archival and manipulation of images; and
Any other responsibility assigned to the jobholder by the supervisor from time to time.

Knowledge, experience and qualifications required

Diploma in Radiology or Radiography from a recognized institution.
Must be registered with the Radiography Council of Kenya and hold a valid practicing licence.
Minimum of 2 years’ radiography experience preferably in a hospital environment

The jobholder is responsible for the equipment in the Unit but has no responsibility for financial accountability and consumable stocks.
