The Monitoring & Evaluation Assistant will support the Program Coordinator to oversee performance management of the accelerating uptake of the rotavirus vaccine project in Kano State, a project that aims to reduce diarrhea infection among children under five in high-burden communities. He/she will collaborate with the other program teams to ensure seamless implementation of the project in Kano State. He/she will track program implementation and support stakeholders’ engagement to ensure that program implementation is harmonized and integrated in the state. He/she will also ensure adherence to TAConnects’ corporate and field office policies and donor regulations.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions):
Support the program coordinator and other team members in activity planning and implementation, including pipeline analysis, and budget tracking, to ensure timely implementation of activities.
Provide support on all aspects related to data management, analysis, monitoring, evaluation, and reporting for the accelerating uptake of the rotavirus vaccine project in Kano State.
Conduct regular data analysis and visualization of key indicators related to accelerating rotavirus vaccination coverage, generates monthly indicator reports, and tracking of progress against workplan.
Conduct visits to LGAs/Wards/Facilities as necessary for data validation to monitor the quality and completeness of report viz-a-viz datasets.
Work closely with government and stakeholders to conduct capacity building for M&E staff at the LGA, data clerks/record officers, and healthcare workers at the facility to improve data management and reporting capabilities.
Support advocacy efforts to state government to commit more resources to immunization programs through budgetary allocations in the state Annual Operational Plan (AOP) and other funding streams.
Together with the Program Coordinator, contribute to the identification, analysis, and synthesis of technical knowledge and evidence-based information on immunization coverage leveraging the accelerating uptake of the rotavirus vaccine project in Kano State.
Job Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree / HND in demography, statistics, social sciences, public health, health information management, or related field.
Minimum of 4 years of work experience, with at least 2 years related experience in Monitoring & Evaluation /Health Management Information Systems. Experience on an Immunization/Vaccine delivery project is an added advantage.
Working knowledge of District Health Information Systems 2 (DHIS2), and the Electronic Management of Immunization Data (EMID) is required.
Competency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, and a statistical software package (SPSS, EPI-INFO, STATA, or similar) is required.
Proficiency in the use of any mobile data collection/CAP packages, and at least one data visualization tool/platform such as PowerBi, Tableau, Google Data Studio etc.
Knowledge of the local health system and experience working with and supporting the Government of Nigeria Ministries and Ministry Department and Agencies (MDAs) is an asset.
Demonstrated data analysis, time management, and problem-solving skills.
Strong written and spoken communication skills in English to communicate technical information to audiences with varying levels of technical expertise. The ability to communicate in Hausa is an added advantage.
Organizational skills, interpersonal skills, and a demonstrated ability to work independently as well as part of a team. Adaptable to change, and flexible with duties and hours.
Ability to consistently meet multiple deadlines Strong written and spoken communication skills in English and Hausa are required.
Supervision
The M&E Assistant will report directly to Program Coordinator
Working Conditions/Duration of Assignment
This will be for One (1) year with a possibility of extension depending on the availability of resources.
