Responsibilities

Installation:


Interpret blueprints and building specifications to install new HVAC systems.This includes installing components like compressors, piping, and ducts, and connecting systems to water and fuel supply lines.


Maintenance:


Perform routine inspections and cleaning to prevent breakdowns and improve performance.


Repairs:


Diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical faults, and perform overhauls and start-ups.


Safety:


Follow safety protocols and regulations, and use personal protective equipment (PPE) as needed.


Communication:


Interact with clients to explain how to use HVAC systems and understand their needs.


Record keeping:


Maintain records of equipment use, hours worked, and work performed.


Continuing education:


Stay current on industry trends and regulations, and participate in training.


Requirements


HVAC technicians may specialize in installation, repair, or maintenance services.They work in a variety of facilities, including schools, hospitals, office buildings, factories, and homes.
