Overall Responsibility

Reporting to the CEO, the Head of Human Resources will offer strategic leadership and oversee the management of Human Resources aligned with Sacco’s strategic objectives. This role includes ensuring effective resourcing, efficient HR records management systems, fostering a conducive working environment and culture, overseeing performance management, learning and development, maintaining health and safety standards, and other related responsibilities.

Duties and Responsibilities

Develop and implement Human Resources policies, strategies, and initiatives aligned with the overarching Sacco strategy.
Manage the organizational structure by updating job requirements and descriptions for all positions.
Develop and coordinate training and development programs,
Coordinate the recruitment, Selection, onboarding, placement and deployment process
Manage employee welfare, wellness, health and safety;
Foster a positive working environment through a high-performance culture that emphasizes empowerment, quality, productivity, and standard.
Strengthen employer-employee relationships by measuring job satisfaction, fostering employee engagement, resolving workplace conflicts, and facilitating collective bargaining.
Provide guidance on compensation structures, assess competitive pay practices, and manage payroll administration.
Oversee employees’ benefit schemes, reward systems, medical insurance, and pensions.
Ensure Sacco compliance with HR policies, procedures, and labor laws and regulations
Provide advisory and support services to line managers for implementing Sacco’s HR policies.
Handle disciplinary issues, conflict resolution, grievance management, and other personnel-related matters.
Manage employee performance through the appraisal process
Management of employee disputes, grievances and disciplinary processes.
Prepare and submit operational and statutory reports adhering to set standards for the Board, Management, and regulators as necessary.
Oversee an effective employee separation process, including benefits computation and conducting exit interviews.

Qualifications, Knowledge, and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences or related field. An MBA will be an added advantage.
Certified Human Resource Professional (CHRP-K) with a valid practicing license from IHRM
Seven years of relevant experience, with at least five years at a management level.
Experience in strategic management involving planning, goal setting, implementation, monitoring, evaluation, and reporting.
Excellent leadership, innovation, communication, team building, negotiation, and decision-making skills.
Comprehensive understanding of relevant labour laws and the demonstrated ability to effectively manage change
Familiarity with Human Resource Information Management Systems (HRIMS)
