Job Description


The Senior Mechanical BIM Modeller applies knowledge within an area to a project to solve straightforward problems and is also able to apply that knowledge to typical solutions. Key responsibilities include:
Serve as an advanced user in Autodesk Revit Software (Buildings) / Autodesk Civil 3D (Civils), or similar, with the ability to draw/model with limited supervision and create content within a specific discipline. Must also be an advanced user in other core discipline-specific software.
Apply knowledge within the mechanical engineering domain to water infrastructure projects, solving straightforward problems and adapting that knowledge to typical situations.
Work independently and collaboratively with moderate level of guidance, taking ownership of assigned tasks and projects.
Regularly present work for review by supervisors and more senior team members, incorporating feedback to improve designs and models.
Contribute expertise within the mechanical engineering area on water projects, solving a range of straightforward problems, and applying that knowledge to atypical assignments.
Analyse and apply solutions to typical issues within area of expertise within a sub-group or team within their function, business unit or technical discipline, using standard operating procedures/methodologies as a basis.
Develop and maintain detailed 3D models of mechanical systems for water treatment facilities, ensuring accuracy and compliance with project specifications.
Coordinate with other disciplines (e.g., structural, electrical, civil) to identify and resolve clashes in the BIM environment.
Produce high-quality 2D drawings and documentation from 3D models for construction and fabrication purposes.
Participate in design review meetings, offering insights and solutions from a mechanical BIM perspective.
Stay updated with the latest BIM technologies, software updates, and industry best practices, sharing knowledge with the team.
Mentor junior BIM modellers, providing guidance on software usage, modelling techniques, and water industry standards.
Contribute to the development and maintenance of the company's BIM standards and templates for water infrastructure projects.
Collaborate with project managers to ensure timely delivery of BIM deliverables within budget constraints.
Assist in the preparation of technical reports and presentations related to mechanical systems in water treatment facilities.


Qualifications

Qualifications:


Grade 12 or equivalent
2 years ITI Diploma in Drafting or 3 years Diploma course in Engineering preferable
3 Years' + experience with modelling software in an architectural or engineering environment
Advanced proficiency in Autodesk Revit and Civil 3D
Demonstrated experience in water infrastructure projects
Strong knowledge of mechanical systems in water treatment facilities
Familiarity with relevant industry standards and regulations
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
Strong communication and teamwork abilities
Experience with clash detection and coordination in BIM projects
Understanding of sustainable design principles as applied to water systems
