Job Summary
The accountant is responsible for keeping and interpreting financial records and providing support to the INSO Finance Department in daily, weekly and monthly activities. He/she will directly report to INSO Finance Manager.
Major Responsibilities:  
1)     To maintain and control the Abuja cash disbursement, cash book and Bank:

Records daily expense incurred in Bank and Cash Books
Ensure expenses on Bank and Cash SUN software excel are updated for month end Accountancy
Ensures proper Cash management as per INSO Standard Operating Procedures
Ensures valid supporting document (Purchase request, quotes, invoices, payment request, mission plan, …) are attached before processing payments cash or via bank transfer and stamp before filing

2)     Reconciliation of all operational bank accounts (NGN & EUR):

Prepare Bank Reconciliation of all operational accounts with copies of the Bank Statements for the Month End Processing for further approval. 

3)      National staff Payroll:

Submit all statutory deductions to the relevant NG authorities.

4)     To ensure that staff advances, and related support documents are adequately reviewed:

Reconciles advance when necessary, with support from Finance officer
Ensures proper filing of accounting document for Abuja and relevant external correspondences. 

5)     To ensure that external party correspondence is properly manage and file and ensure effective system is in place:

Process staff NHF, NSITF, Pension, WHT (FCT-IRS, FIRS-BIRS), PAYE Schedule and remit on monthly basis
Fills in individual NHF Passbook monthly.

6)     Participate in external and internal audits:

Assist in the planning and implementation of audit activities
Provide relevant vouchers to auditors upon request
Assist the Finance manager to liaise with the auditors to close the issues raised in the Management Control Letter

Mandatory Qualifications:

A university degree or advanced certificate or equivalent in Accounting or Finance is required
2 years’ experience in handling cash and accounting
NGO experience is preferred
Accounting skills and experience in general ledger, journal entries, cash/bank management
Advance M/S Excel experience- SUM IFs, LOOK UP functions, Pivot Table etc. and knowledge of accounting software.
Excellent oral and written English Language
