Is competition in the workplace good or bad?

Competition in a workplace is very bad. A team lead (project manager) shell create and maintain the healthy environment encouraging team-players help... each other when and where possible.
While working toward the mutual goal, the success of the team as a whole is more important then a success of one or two team members. Competition inside the team is divisive, isolates team-players and leads to reduced productivity. The effective teamwork assumes completely opposite. A wise manager shell work toward uniting people with different skillsets and background in one strong, multitasking working force. It doesn't help when one or two of the members run faster than the rest of the group.  more
