I prepare and conduct trainings and ensure that materials are well prepared and of high quality to support adolescent refugee education. I have done the following:
o Prepare concept notes for the approaches and professional development trajectories for Master Trainers, Instructors, and caregivers on Teaching at the Right Level (TaRL), a remedial teaching programme for the over age for grade adolescents, first developed by Pratham India.
o Adapt existing TaRL materials to the local refugee context
o Design interactive and hands-on training programmes including digital/ IT for Master Trainers, Instructors, and caregivers on TaRL
I ensure that materials and trainings are adapted based on the experiences and changing context for children and youths in refugee settlements and emergencies.
I give advice, information, and guidance to VVOB in line with Uganda policy trends, new developments and the latest research and thinking in education and learning through play pedagogies for ECE and primary education, as we implement Teaching at the Right Level.
Make sure that the Ministry of Education and Sports, Basic Education Department is well informed about the progress of the project. I have assured that the MoES structure is on top of things, taken the lead in the project and addresses issues through the District Education Offices.
Ensure that activities are implemented on time and on schedule, including the deliverables and submit data for the project progress report.
Make use of the weekly reports and analysed them to see whether the project is gearing towards sustainability and discussed the finding with management and suggested ways to improve.
Make use of the monthly balanced scorecards and analysed them to see whether the project is gearing towards sustainability. I am responsible to check and follow up on budgets
Report at set times on progress and achievements, and kept key stakeholders informed of the progress.
I provide guidance and inspiration to district coordinators and other project partners for quality teaching and learning
I facilitate the visits by donors, partners, visitors.
I plan and undertake periodic joint monitoring visits with MoES and other cooperating partners.
I engage national and district level authorities to grow and strengthen sustainability through stakeholder meetings, one-on-one discussions with key staff and use various platforms to share TaRL data.
I organize field visits to the schools and partners to monitor progress and ensure that district level stakeholders are on board and implementation runs smoothly.
